Two prominent Missouri broadcasters, Zimmer Communications and Mid-West Family Broadcasting, have reached an agreement to combine their operations in Springfield, Missouri.
Pending approval from the FCC, Mid-West Family will fold its four Springfield radio properties — Classic Rock KKLH, Country KOMG, Sports KOSP, and Active Rock KQRA — alongside its Around the Ozarks digital outlet into the Zimmer cluster. The transaction merges the two operations into a single nine-station footprint managed by Zimmer.
Mid-West Family President Mike Paterson said, “After more than 35 years of ownership in the Springfield market, partnering with another legendary Missouri ownership group to create the next chapter of local media service to our communities is incredibly exciting.”
Zimmer Communications President John Zimmer said, “By combining our strengths, we’ll be able to offer advertisers even more effective marketing solutions while continuing to provide the trusted local content our audiences rely on”. Both companies plan to run their properties independently until the agency signs off on the transaction later this year.
