The Federal Communications Commission has highlighted several important regulatory dates for local broadcasters in March. With daylight saving time resuming on March 8, the commission is reminding AM daytime-only radio stations to double-check their official sign-on and sign-off times. Because all operating times listed on FCC licenses are in standard time, stations with pre-sunrise or post-sunset authority must adjust their daily schedules to ensure compliance and avoid broadcasting beyond their permitted hours. Additionally, following delays caused by last fall’s federal government shutdown, the commission is lifting its filing freeze for new low-power television and translator stations. The new application window for these facilities will officially open on March 19.
