FCC chair beats AI drum.

In a speech at Berkeley Law AI Institute, FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel stressed the importance of AI transparency, particularly in political ads. With AI advancements capable of creating lifelike content, Rosenworcel emphasized concerns about misinformation during elections, citing a Pew survey showing 82% of Americans are worried about AI’s role in spreading false information. She highlighted the FCC’s efforts to regulate AI, including rulings on AI-generated robocalls and proposed rules requiring political ads to disclose AI usage. While optimistic about AI’s potential in improving communications, Rosenworcel maintained that transparency is key, with a final decision on AI disclosure rules expected soon.
