In 2024, according to a new MAGNA study, the global advertising market saw its strongest growth in 25 years, reaching $933 billion, with a 10.3% year-over-year increase, driven by elections and the Olympics. Traditional media ad revenues grew by 4% to $274 billion, while digital audio (podcasting and streaming) experienced a 4.2% increase to $3.2 billion, contrasting with a 3% decline in traditional audio revenues, which totaled $12.6 billion. Globally, audio ad revenues grew by 2% to $29 billion. Looking ahead to 2025, MAGNA predicts a 3.2% decline in traditional audio ad revenues but sustained 4.2% growth for digital audio, supported by improved audience targeting and data-driven strategies. The overall advertising market is expected to grow by 6.1% to $990 billion, with significant growth in digital formats like retail search and digital video. Innovation in streaming and AI will drive this growth. Verticals like CPG, technology, and finance are expected to remain strong, while the automotive sector faces uncertainty.
