John Catsimatidis, owner of Red Apple Media and 77 WABC, renewed his public awareness campaign for the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act with a full-page ad in the New York Post on March 12. “Do not buy a car without AM radio,” Catsimatidis warned, accusing GM of spending millions to eliminate it. He called AM radio “free for US consumers” and vital for emergencies. WABC President Chad Lopez joined the effort, while retired NY law enforcement leaders stressed AM radio’s importance in disasters like Superstorm Sandy in a letter to state officials.
