Broadcasters rally for BFOA charity golf.

Industry leaders from radio and television teed off Monday at Arcola Country Club in Paramus, NJ, supporting the Broadcasters Foundation of America’s 2025 Celebrity Golf Tournament to aid colleagues facing hardship. The tournament is one of the Foundation’s flagship fundraisers, alongside the Golden Mic Gala and the Philip J. Lombardo Memorial Golf Tournament, that sustain year-round relief efforts.

Executives and teams from Audacy, Katz, Good Karma Brands, CBS/Paramount, Gabelli Investments, NBC, Fox, Disney, and others backed the event. Proceeds fund emergency financial assistance for broadcast professionals affected by critical illness, accidents, natural disasters, or sudden home emergencies.

The BFOA typically helps about 400 current and former broadcasters each year through two grant programs: monthly awards that provide ongoing support during recovery, and one-time emergency grants for immediate needs after crises. Applicants are vetted to ensure funds reach professionals who qualify for aid.

Support from the industry has steadily expanded the Foundation’s impact. Over the past 15 years, annual grantmaking has grown from roughly $400,000 in 2007 to nearly $2,000,000 in 2024, enabling broader, faster responses when disaster strikes or medical bills overwhelm household budgets.

This year’s celebrity tournament continued that trajectory, turning a day on the greens into tangible relief for broadcasters who keep their communities informed—especially when the news is hardest to deliver.
