Beasley announces second layoffs before earnings.

Beasley Media Group enacted wide-ranging programming layoffs Friday, impacting program directors and on-air talent in multiple markets, including Boston, Philadelphia, and parts of New Jersey. Former WDHA Program Director Terrie Carr reported being dismissed via a “one minute phone call,” saying additional cuts were underway in her cluster. The scope of the reductions remained unclear as notifications continued. Notable departures include Mike Missanelli, who returned to middays at Philadelphia’s 97.5 The Fanatic (WPEN) in August 2024 after hosting afternoons there from 2008 to 2022.

This marks Beasley’s second round of layoffs in 2025, following a reduction in force just before Q1 results. The company is set to release Q2 earnings Tuesday. In Q1, revenue fell 10.1% year over year, and the company recorded a $2.7 million loss versus an $8,000 profit in Q1 2024. Digital revenue rose to 22% of total, with digital operating income growing from $100,000 to $1.9 million and margins improving from 6.1% to 17.8%.

With Q2 revenue pacing 10% lower than last year, management has framed the programming cuts as part of cost control efforts alongside ongoing digital investments.
