President-elect Donald Trump is reportedly considering former Secret Service agent and syndicated radio host Dan Bongino to lead the Secret Service. Bongino, a vocal Trump supporter and former NYPD officer, has not confirmed formal discussions about the role. The agency faces scrutiny after two assassination attempts on Trump during his 2024 campaign and the resignation of Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle in July. Bongino, whose radio show has expanded to 350 affiliates since its 2021 debut, may end his broadcasting career if appointed. His renewed deal with Westwood One in 2023 extends his show and podcast under the Cumulus Podcast Network. Other candidates for Secret Service Director include Sean Curran, head of Trump’s security detail, and Robert Engel, former detail leader. Trump is also reportedly eyeing media figures for key cabinet positions, including Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense and Sean Duffy for Transportation Secretary.
