Despite lingering public skepticism, artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming a cornerstone of content creation, especially in audio. A new report from AI audio platform Wondercraft reveals that audio is now among the fastest-growing applications of AI in marketing and advertising. The AI in Content Creation 2025 report, based on a global survey of over 500 creators, highlights how marketers are increasingly using AI tools to streamline workflows, localize messages, and reduce production costs.
More than 80 percent of respondents said they use AI in some part of their creative process, and nearly 40 percent rely on it throughout the entire workflow—from concept to delivery. While video remains the most common content format, AI-powered audio is quickly catching up, particularly for marketers under pressure to deliver high volumes of content quickly and affordably. The report notes that 21 percent of creators now use AI audio tools regularly, putting it on par with AI image tools and ahead of video tools in certain marketing applications.
Marketers are using AI voice generators for scripted voiceovers, rapid testing of campaign variations, and multilingual adaptations. Among the top benefits cited were saving time (23.8 percent), converting content across formats (19 percent), and boosting creative ideation. AI’s role in making content creation more agile and scalable is becoming increasingly clear, especially as demand for personalized and localized messaging continues to grow.
Interestingly, creators between the ages of 35 and 54 were the most likely to adopt AI across their full workflows. Only 42 percent of professionals under 25 reported using AI at every stage. The study also revealed a slight gender difference: women were more likely than men to fully embrace AI tools, particularly in roles requiring tone consistency and trust, while men reported more varied experimentation across platforms.
Despite the growth, concerns around AI in media persist. A Gallup study found that 57 percent of Americans want more transparency regarding AI use, associating it with risks such as misinformation and job displacement. In radio specifically, three out of four on-air personalities worry that AI could eventually replace them, even as the industry increasingly turns to these tools.
