Vice President JD Vance hosted a special edition of Salem Media’s Charlie Kirk Show from the West Wing on Monday, honoring Kirk after his September 10 assassination in Utah alongside conservative media figures and Trump administration officials. The two-hour broadcast aired on Salem Radio Network, Salem News Channel, and Rumble.
In his opening monologue, Vance called Kirk a mentor and a friend who helped shape his political path. He described visiting Kirk’s family in Utah and Arizona in the days following the killing, saying the meetings were heartbreaking and meaningful.
Across the program, Vance portrayed Kirk as a visionary who energized young activists, influenced the Republican Party’s direction, and, in Vance’s words, played a central role in electing President Donald Trump and himself. He framed the assassination within the broader rise of political extremism and urged national unity.
Guests included White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, Tucker Carlson, and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. They discussed Kirk’s organizing prowess, his appeal to younger conservatives, and his imprint on the modern conservative movement.
Kirk had taken over Dennis Prager’s time slot on more than two hundred radio affiliates in March. Salem has not yet announced future plans for either program.
