Allegations included remotely tampering with WPR’s transmitters and a radio tower, reportedly fueled by tensions with WPR leadership. Montoya denied wrongdoing, claiming his actions were routine and attributing the situation to a hostile work environment. Charges arose during his campaign for a Laramie City Council seat, leading Montoya to suggest political motivation. Initially facing two felony charges, one was dropped, and the remaining charge was reduced to a misdemeanor. Montoya received a sentence of one year’s unsupervised probation and $370 in court fees, with no fine imposed. His actions briefly disrupted WPR, which serves 90% of Wyoming through 26 broadcast sites.
