After broadcasters lobbied lawmakers last week, support surged for the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act and the Local Radio Freedom Act. “Dozens of Congressmembers have pledged their support,” with 57 Senate and 103 House co-sponsors now backing the AM radio bill, which mandates AM radio in new vehicles. The bill includes a 10-year sunset clause. Six more House members joined the Local Radio Freedom Act, opposing performance royalties, bringing its total to 140. NAB’s efforts also aim to convince the FCC to ease ownership rules and help radio compete with Big Tech.
