FCC regulations require AM stations to reduce power after dark, and under permanent DST, winter sunrises would occur later, impacting critical morning drive hours (6-8 a.m.). This could reduce audience reach and advertising revenue for AM stations, which NRB says are essential for religious programming, traffic updates, and emergency alerts.
