The shift in Trump’s second-term administration’s role in shaping media policy will be the focus of a pivotal discussion at this year’s Hispanic Radio Conference in Houston.
Titled “Legal Update: Meet the New Boss … NOT the Same as the Old Boss,” the session promises to unpack significant legal and regulatory developments coming out of Washington, many of which could directly impact station operations, ownership, and content. Moderated by Frank Montero of Fletcher, Heald & Hildreth, the panel will include Latino Media Network’s Chief Legal and Compliance Officer Aleksandra Cuprys, Colorado Broadcasters Association CEO Justin Sasso, and Entravision Deputy General Counsel Christopher Wood.
Among the key issues to be discussed: the potential for changes to station ownership caps, evolving Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules around foreign investment, political advertising restrictions, and the role of AI regulation in media. The panel will also address ongoing pressures and opportunities surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, as well as the uncertain future of AM radio in modern dashboards.
This timely session comes as broadcasters face growing demands from regulators and increased scrutiny on how stations operate, serve communities, and adapt to technology shifts. The panel’s goal is to move beyond surface-level commentary, offering attendees clear insights and strategies for staying compliant and competitive in this evolving media environment.
