NextKast has introduced NextSync, a playlist-aware synchronization engine designed to help radio groups share content across multiple markets while keeping each station’s sound distinct and local. Instead of cloning one main station everywhere, NextSync lets clusters run from a unified core library while still choosing their own music, imaging, commercials, and local blocks inside a single automation environment.
At the heart of the system is a pull-based engine covered by a provisional patent filing titled “Playlist-Aware, Expiry-Validated, Pull-Based Media Synchronization for Broadcast Automation Systems.” Rather than pushing every file to every station, NextSync looks at what each station’s playlists and category rules actually call for and then pulls only the necessary content. That, says the company, makes group operations leaner, faster, and easier to manage.
“Traditional systems push content everywhere, whether it’s needed or not,” said Winston Potgieter, founder and project manager at NextKast. “NextSync reverses that logic. Each station automatically pulls only what it needs based on real playlists and category rules.”
Troy Welch, owner and program director of PlayFM Radio, said his group has already seen the benefit. “NextSync completely replaced our dependence on cloud-sync tools like Dropbox,” he said. “We manage all of our stations from one core library, and every site stays in sync without manual uploads.”
Stations can customize exactly what gets synchronized and how. Engineers and programmers can specify which content categories move between locations, whether playlists are shared directly from a master or built locally, and which rotations and clocks are kept in common to preserve format consistency. Potgieter sums it up as “the playlist drives the sync, not the operator.”
NextSync also routes voice-tracked shows using the same logic. Once a talent delivers a finished hour or program to the master, the engine can automatically distribute that show to any station configured to carry that hour. Commercial and traffic audio are continuously checked for expiration, and the system automatically requests updates as needed.
NextKast is offering qualified groups a 60-day, no-obligation onboarding period to test NextSync in real operations before committing. Broadcasters can request a private preview here, or contact Winston Potgieter at 210-286-2975 or wp@nextkast.com.
