The Radio Television Digital News Association has revealed the national winners of the 2025 Edward R. Murrow Awards, honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism since 1971. More than 5,000 entries from hundreds of outlets were submitted for this year’s competition, which bears the name of legendary CBS News journalist Edward R. Murrow.
In the Network Radio division, NPR won for Breaking News Coverage with its live reporting on the July 13 Trump assassination attempt. Marketplace received the Continuing Coverage award for its reporting on the Baltimore Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse. Reveal and The Associated Press were recognized for Feature Reporting with Escaping Putin’s War Machine, while Baltimore Public Media and APM Reports earned Investigative Reporting honors for Judging Juveniles. ABC News Radio received the Overall Excellence award.
Among Large Market Radio winners, KMOX earned Breaking News honors for its coverage of flash flooding that cut off a town. WSB Radio won Continuing Coverage for reporting on the murder of Laken Riley. Investigative Reporting went to BPR, WFDD, and CityView for Sold on a Promise, and WUSF News took Overall Excellence.
In the Small Market Radio category, Connecticut Public was recognized for Breaking News Coverage of deadly flooding in the state. WWNC-AM earned Continuing Coverage with Voices of Hope: The Great Flood of 2024. WGLT-FM took Investigative Reporting honors for Where Orders of Protection Fail. Overall Excellence went to BPR for Hell or High Water: Hurricane Helene Coverage.
