MIW launches third Behind the Mic program.

Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio has opened applications for the third annual Behind the Mic Mentorship, supporting the professional growth of female on-air talent in the U.S. radio industry. The year-long program will select one personality from any music format who has 3–5 years of on-air experience and is actively pursuing career advancement. The chosen mentee will receive personalized guidance from industry professionals and attend NAB Show 2026 in Las Vegas.

The initiative aligns with MIW’s mission to advance female leadership in broadcasting, with a focus on programming talent and on-air development. Past participants include Cumulus Media Albuquerque afternoon host Jenelle Vannoy and Leighton Broadcasting music director Brook Stephens.

Applications will be accepted through Friday, August 29. MIW Board President Sheila Kirby called the program “a powerful opportunity to invest in the future of women’s voices in radio,” adding that it provides access, insight, and community to help talent take the next step in their careers.
