The Radio Advertising Bureau has opened applications for the 17th annual “Rising Through the Ranks” leadership development program, an initiative designed to support and empower women in the broadcast radio industry. Co-produced by the RAB and Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio Inc., the program provides a unique opportunity for women in radio sales, management, and leadership roles to strengthen their skills, build professional networks, and prepare for career advancement.
The 2025 edition of the program will begin with a virtual session on August 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Central, followed by an in-person experience in Nashville from August 19 to 21. To encourage participation and increase accessibility, RAB is offering scholarships that will fully cover the cost of the course. These scholarships are aimed at helping both current and emerging female leaders access the tools and mentorship they need to thrive in the industry.
RAB President and CEO Mike Hulvey emphasized the value of the program, noting that it enables participants to learn from expert speakers while also developing connections with peers across the U.S. radio industry. According to Hulvey, the program fosters both personal and professional growth, helping participants expand their leadership potential.
Sheila Kirby, Board President of Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio, echoed that sentiment. She described “Rising Through the Ranks” as a program that has significantly influenced the careers of many women in radio. Kirby praised the initiative for aligning with MIW’s mission to support and elevate women in media, expressing pride in continuing their sponsorship for another impactful year.
While specific details about the 2025 agenda and speaker lineup will be released in the coming months, the program is known for featuring a mix of leadership training, strategic communication workshops, and career development sessions led by seasoned industry professionals.
Applications for scholarships and registration are now open and can be submitted through the RAB website. The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. Central on May 30, and selected scholarship recipients will be notified by June 23. The RAB encourages eligible women in the radio industry to apply and take advantage of this valuable opportunity to grow professionally and connect with like-minded peers.
