Heidi Raphael named President and CEO of NYSBA.

The New York State Broadcasters Association announced that Raphael will succeed longtime President and CEO David Donovan. Donovan, who has led the group for 15 years, will step down later this year. He will continue to run the group’s legislative and advocacy efforts in Albany and Washington, D.C.

Raphael brings more than three decades of radio and media experience to the job. A Western New York native, she currently works as Chief Communications Officer for Beasley Media Group. Before her ten years there, she spent over two decades at Greater Media, Inc., moving up to become Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications.

Chris Musial, Chairman of the NYSBA Board of Directors, welcomed the news. “Heidi brings an exceptional combination of leadership experience, industry knowledge, and passion for broadcasting,” Musial said.

Donovan also praised the choice, noting, “Our industry continues to evolve, and I believe Heidi is uniquely qualified to lead NYSBA forward.” He said he looks forward to working with her to ensure a smooth transition.

Raphael is excited to return to her roots. “As someone who was born, raised, and began my broadcasting career in Western New York, the opportunity to return home, serve New York’s broadcasters, and be closer to my family is truly special,” she said.
