The FCC has released a draft plan to modernize several regulations affecting radio and television broadcasters. Known as the “Delete, Delete, Delete” proceeding, the initiative aims to remove obsolete language and align rules with current digital filing systems. Key changes include replacing references to the legacy CDBS database with the modern LMS platform and simplifying the “Signature Rule.”
This update would allow “duly authorized employees” or directors to sign application certifications, rather than strictly limiting the task to corporate officers. The proposal also includes harmonizing processing procedures for minor changes to FM and LPFM stations to reduce administrative confusion. Chairman Brendan Carr and the commissioners are expected to consider the formal adoption of these updates during the open meeting scheduled for March 26.
