The Federal Communications Commission is asking local radio operators to voluntarily increase their broadcast of patriotic material. The initiative, announced by FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, is named the Pledge America Campaign. It is designed to tie in with the Salute to America 250 Task Force, a federal group organizing the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Carr suggested that stations could participate by playing the national anthem every morning, highlighting historical sites in their local communities, or featuring the music of classic American composers. While the campaign is entirely optional, the FCC noted that stations can formally pledge their commitment to the effort and highlight their relevant programming to listeners.
