Cox Media Group lobbies the FCC for deregulation.

Executives from Cox Media Group, including Radio President Rob Babin and corporate counsel, met with Marcus Maher, the senior legal advisor to FCC Commissioner Olivia Trusty. The delegation also held a separate meeting with Deena Shetler, chief of staff and legal advisor to Commissioner Anna Gomez.

The broadcaster urged the FCC to eliminate or significantly relax the local radio ownership rule, arguing that current limits hinder the ability of traditional radio operators to compete against unregulated digital audio platforms. The meetings follow similar lobbying efforts made earlier this summer by Beasley Media Group as the industry awaits the conclusion of the agency’s quadrennial review.
