The National Association of Broadcasters has joined with a number of other industry associations to file an opening brief with the Supreme Court in support of the FCC’s appeal of an order by the Third Circuit Court of Appeals mandating the rollback of the Commission’s revised local media ownership rules. (The suit originally alleged that the FCC failed to consider the effect of its rules on minority and female ownership.) In the NAB brief, the argument is that the Commission “is only required to consider competition overall, not diversity.”
