iHeart-Sirius merger talks break down.

Early-stage discussions regarding a potential combination of iHeartMedia and SiriusXM have broken down after the participating parties failed to establish mutually acceptable transaction terms. The proposed deal would have integrated iHeartMedia’s network of 860 terrestrial broadcast stations with the satellite programming and extensive podcast production capabilities of SiriusXM. Corporate analysts indicated that the combined entity would have created a massive audio powerhouse designed to compete directly against Spotify for dominance in podcast distribution and programmatic advertisement sales. Music executive Irving Azoff and Apollo Global Management had reportedly agreed to advise on the initial negotiations before the discussions hit a wall. Share values for both corporations experienced a decline following the disclosure of the breakdown, and it remains uncertain if negotiations will be initiated again.
