As we head into the final week of 2025, I want to express my appreciation and gratitude for your readership and support of our newsletter.
We’ve had, as we say in the Midwest, an “interesting” year, what with a change in, well, pretty much everything about this publication. We changed our name. We changed our layout. We changed our distribution method.
Any good troubleshooter will tell you to change only one thing at a time, so you’ll know where to look when something goes wrong. It turns out I am not as good a troubleshooter as I thought, because we changed three things at once—and the first two or three weeks were a little rocky.
So this year my greeting is more heartfelt than ever, since I tested your loyalty by upsetting the cart and scattering apples all over your office. But I’m happy to say that all of us seem to have survived the experience, and comments nowadays about TLRN are unanimously positive.
I have a lot to be thankful for, and so do you. Radio on a local level gives you the opportunity to change your world in so many ways for the better. You provide uplifting entertainment and non-fake news to your listeners. You help local merchants attain higher levels of success. And most importantly, you and your team work tirelessly for the betterment of your community.
And you can do all this because you’ve decided to. And nobody is holding you back.
So you have my best wishes for the holidays and every success in the coming year. I’m not too worried about the fate of local radio, because you are making it happen every day.
