The FCC has rescinded a proposal to fine Willtronics Broadcasting for a late license renewal for WFLQ/French Lick, IN; it turns out that the licensee had, in fact, requested an extension, which fact was overlooked in the original Notice of Apparent Liability. Editor’s $0.02: Some readers will doubtless recognize French Lick as “the boyhood home of Larry Byrd,” and the longtime home of Col. Bill Willis, beloved “convention friend” (and longtime SMRN reader). When we first saw the news of the Colonel being fined for late license renewal, we didn’t believe it—there is no finer broadcaster then Bill Willis—so we were relieved at this update.
