Nielsen’s latest analysis
reveals the importance of adapting advertising strategies amidst the evolving media
landscape. Contrary to assumptions, increasing allocations to connected TV (CTV) and
digital platforms do not significantly enhance audience reach compared to traditional
linear TV. Even with up to 60% of the media mix allocated to CTV and digital, monthly
campaign reach remains stagnant at 65%. In contrast, incorporating AM/FM radio into
digital/TV media plans remarkably amplifies reach, particularly among light TV
viewers, achieving a 29-point increase in incremental reach. This emphasizes radio’s
unparalleled ability to engage audiences, especially among younger demographics,
suggesting a shift in media consumption patterns. Nielsen’s data underscores the
enduring importance of AM/FM radio in expanding audience engagement, surpassing
the effectiveness of digital and CTV platforms.
