The Myers Report, a marketing research company, has issued new projections, occasioned by the Coronavirus pandemic, for advertising spending in 21 categories. Audio in general is expected to decline nearly 26%, with “linear audio” (radio) faring even less well with a 30% decline. Podcasting is the only audio segment to show an increase, estimated at 8%. Among the other winners are online video (up 26%), videogame advertising and gaming currency (4%), and interactive/on-demand/addressable TV advertising (12%). Otherwise, the news is rather bleak for the likes of print (down 25.7%), outdoor (down 44.2%), and all other types of television.
