Record-industry group slams radio behemoth.

musicFIRST, a coalition of music creators, lashed out at radio after iHeartMedia’s Q2 earnings call. musicFIRST chairman Senator Mark Pryor accused iHeartMedia of hypocrisy and greed, claiming that the company refuses to pay music artists for AM/FM radio plays while celebrating its financial performance with investors. Pryor also criticized the National Association of Broadcasters and “Big Radio.” However, musicFIRST’s criticism has been called out for cherry-picking facts and ignoring the financial challenges that radio broadcasters are facing.
