At the WorldDAB Automotive event in Prague, over 300 automotive and broadcasting executives discussed preserving radio’s role in vehicles. WorldDAB President Jacqueline Bierhorst stressed the importance of maintaining radio’s presence in car dashboards. US broadcasters have been advocating for AM radio, while electric vehicle manufacturers aim to phase out over-the-air radio. Tomas Granryd from Swedish Radio introduced “The Playbook,” a strategy to keep radio prominent through traditional broadcast access, enhanced internet services, and voice commands. The event highlighted cross-continental collaboration, with US leaders emphasizing radio’s enduring dominance in the cluttered media landscape. The next WorldDAB Summit will be in Zagreb, Croatia, on November 14.
