The Subcommittee on Communications and Technology of the House Energy and Commerce Committee has sent the PIRATE Act (H. R. 5709) to the full committee. If it passes out of the full committee, it will go to a vote in the House of Representatives. The measure seeks to boost fines for unlicensed radio stations from $10,000 per violation to $100,000 per day per violation.
