New compliance checklists aid station self-inspections.

Broadcasters have new tools for verifying regulatory compliance following the joint release of updated station self-inspection guides by the National Association of Broadcasters and the Society of Broadcast Engineers.

The documentation marks the first major overhaul of these checklists since 2024, updating rules for AM and FM operations to match current federal policies. Because the government stopped publishing its own official checklists more than two decades ago, these updated guidelines serve as a critical defense for general managers and chief engineers looking to avoid costly fines during third-party state alternative broadcast inspections.
