Makers’ mark.

Automakers, led by General Motors, spent over $7 million in Q2 lobbying against the AM for Every Vehicle Act, which mandates keeping AM radio in car dashboards. GM alone spent $2.69 million and hired nine additional lobbying firms. Toyota, Honda, Ford, and Tesla also contributed significantly. The bill, supported by the National Association of Broadcasters for its importance in news and safety, remains stalled in the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. The House’s early recess delays any progress until September, with a December 20 deadline for passage before requiring reintroduction in the next Congress session.
