During an appearance at Vanderbilt University Law school last week, US assistant attorney general Makan Delrahim told the audience that the Department of Justice antitrust would not change the consent decree the government entered into with broadcast music licensors ASCAP and BMI, asserting that the agreements should be reviewed every five years “to assess whether the decrees continue to achieve their objective to protect competition and whether modifications to the decrees are appropriate in the light of changes in technology and the music industry.”
