You may have seen the story we ran last week about the FCC granting a petition from iHeart media to raise the cap on foreign investments.
Some of our readers do business with foreign entities and might be wondering whether this is a one-time exception granted to the nation’s largest radio company, or is this consideration available to others?
Yes and no.
Exceptions like this are granted on a case-by-case basis, so you would have to apply. However, the iHeart decision does create a precedent that may well work in your favor.
The time and expense of you petitioning the Commission would be less than the estimated $2-5 million iHeart spent: you could get away with “only” $50,000-$150,000.
Is that what the big guys mean by “economies of scale”?
Congrats to Pat
Overdue but nonetheless heartfelt congratulations to TLRN Contributing Editor Pat Bryson, named one of Radio Ink’s “Most Influential Women in Radio” for the sixth time.
I don’t keep count, but I am sure that is a rare achievement, which makes the award all the more meaningful.
Happy selling, Pat!
