The FCC has issued an order and Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to consider repurposing some of the spectrum currently used by C-band satellites for 5G wireless broadband. The proposal brings wireless carriers onto C-band to share the spectrum with broadcasters, who are concerned about the potential limiting of their options for programming distribution. On behalf of the broadcasting industry, NAB Executive Vice President/Communications Dennis Wharton noted that “NAB looks forward to working with the Commission to take a close look at widespread existing uses of C-band spectrum, and determining the best path forward.”
