The FCC’s Media Bureau has outlined the procedures for handling the 1,336 Low Power FM (LPFM) applications submitted during the first filing window in a decade. Singleton applications, not conflicting with others, have been identified, with over 700 deemed technically acceptable and put on public notice as “accepted for filing.” A 30-day period for petitions to deny has commenced. For mutually-exclusive (MX) applications, where minimum distance separation requirements are not met, the Bureau will release public notices identifying MX application groups. Applicants in these groups can resolve conflicts through amendments, settlements, or voluntary time-share agreements. Further details can be found in the Public Notice (https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachments/DA-24-92A1.pdf).
