The FCC Enforcement Bureau sent out a second round of EEO audits in 2023, with nearly 5% of all broadcast entities being audited annually. The first round was notified in April, with responses due in June, while the second round is due in December. The FCC has the authority to initiate penalties, potential license termination or denial of renewal, among others, for stations that do not meet audit requirements. The FCC recently proposed a $25,000 fine against two Kansas-based companies for violating EEO regulations.
