Cumulus Media, Xperi, and Super Hi-Fi have united to introduce two cutting-edge digital radio channels in Nashville, aiming not only to offer a tailored listening experience but also to serve as a platform for experimenting with new radio programs and services. The Hill (WGFX-HD2) and Nashville Songwriter Radio (WGFX-HD3) utilize a combination of Xperi’s HD Radio technology, Super Hi-Fi’s artificial intelligence “Program Director” Radio Operating System, and Cumulus Media’s signal. Nashville Songwriter Radio celebrates the city’s vibrant songwriter community, featuring local artists’ tracks and classic Nashville sounds. The Hill offers a mix of popular music genres, developed in partnership with Green Hill High School to provide students with hands-on radio programming experience. By harnessing HD Radio technology and DTS AutoStage, the initiative aims to enhance in-vehicle radio experiences, offering personalized discovery, targeted audience engagement, and advanced analytics. Cumulus Media CTO Conrad Trautmann emphasized the partnership’s ability to reach new local communities with tailored programming, while Xperi SVP of Broadcast and Digital Audio Joe D’Angelo highlighted the collaboration’s potential to enhance the listening experience for users. Super Hi-Fi CEO Zack Zalon expressed excitement about contributing to Nashville’s musical landscape with these innovative HD Radio formats.
